So, K Records are promoting the new album from Ashley Eriksson thus:

The lady is performing each of the 11 songs from her new album Colours on public pianos around her home town of Olympia, WA. These performances are filmed, and then ‘premièred’ on various cool websites in the weeks leading up to the album’s release. Someone somewhere has slipped up and asked Collapse Board to take part. We have no real idea why. The last time we went into American Apparel it was called Marks & Sparks, and the closest we’ve come to hipster glasses are the two-for-one offer SpecSavers have been doing for years, which don’t even begin to cover the variety we require. Still. We are rather fond of Colours and the videos that accompany it. In places it sort’a reminds us of some of Damon & Naomi’s more magical moments, Katrina singing with The Pastels… and in other places it reminds us of our own special moments upon visiting Olympia, WA – that time we insisted on taking the K Records “guided cassette walk” among the half-finished buildings and rail tracks in the pouring, grey rain remaining a particular favourite. There’s a touch of the Van Dyke Parks. It’s all very magical, gentle, analogue, intimate, childish (not a pejorative).

Here are a few links to some of the other websites to feature videos from Ashley Eriksson performing Colours.

And here’s the one Collapse Board is proud to present, ‘Arguably’ – the shortest song on Colours and, um, arguably the perkiest. We’d like to add… “and prettiest” but 1) we’ve been taught since we were small children never to use “pretty” as a descriptor as it doesn’t mean anything, and b) that would be a lie (that honour falls to the title track, perhaps, or the unspeakably gorgeous ‘Ett Stilla Regn’). Still, it is most bewitching. And damn, we like being bewitched in Brisbane.*

*It’s not the perkiest, actually. That’ll be ‘Mother Nature’s Promise’, which sounds like it’s already got a ready-made Kid Koala storyboard. Our track… well, our track is the sweetest.

Collapse Board: we’re just happy to serve.
