Second week at top for Scott’s genius dismissal of Sub Pop’s latest Great White Hopes Washed Out. And thoroughly deserved too … especially when you consider its nearest competition (a complete hack job done on the latest Horrors album). Once again, SEO ensures Kreayshawn remains at the top on numbers … some folk must have a skewed idea of what Collapse Board is about.

Shut up about Kreayshawn being racist
I mean, isn’t hanging out with, and working with other races pretty much the dictionary definition of NOT a racist? (Kelly McClure)

1. Washed Out – Within And Without (Sub Pop)
Washed Out is a soundtrack for passive consumption, for the blissfully ignorant to wallow like pigs at the late-capitalist mudbath. And if Ernest Greene has a problem with that, maybe he should try making music that isn’t so easily turned into a billboard. (Scott Creney)
2. The Horrors – Skying (XL)
It seems that even when critics refer to such abstract concepts as Krautrock (specifically Can), what they really mean is THIS BAND SOUNDS LIKE U2. That’s odd. I’d never heard the connection before. (Everett True)
3. Song of the day – 374: King Q4 (with two Nirvana cover versions thrown in)
They’ve taken ‘Love Buzz’ to a very different place, far away from Rock And Roll Halls Of Fame. (ET)
4. Collapse Board manifesto number 9: Pitchfork, the betrayal of music & some great songs
I would like to be loved but prefer to remain True. I don’t follow a consensus. The only history I’m interested in is mine. (ET)
5. The real grunge
Raw and furious, Bjelland flirted between self-indulgent and revolutionary with a flick of her caustic tongue. (ET)
6. Fado (“the saddest music in the world”)
“But this Fado music! That’s some beautiful sad bastard stuff, yes?” (ET, Laura Witkowski and João Santos)
7. Fucked Up – David Comes To Life (Matador)
Woah, what the? Fucked Up? Monochrome? (Tom Randall)
8. the song that changed my life
Sub Pop even released my version as a seven-inch, the worst-selling on the label. (ET)
9. Five things learned at Flavours Of Skuzz (see featured image)
BRING BACK SKUZZ. (Darragh Murray)
10. Washed Out: the focus group response review
I like that I can delete this from my iTunes and not miss it later. (Joseph Kyle)
11. A Young Person’s Guide To Hustling In Music and The Arts
Freelancing is about peaks and troughs and not everyone’s wave cycle is at the same frequency. (Lawrence English)
12. Collapse Board on Odd Future
The top three entries are among the most read articles on Collapse Board during the past three months. (Collapse Board)
13. Rock And Fucken Roll
Pris get it so clearly, it fucking hurts. (ET)
14. REVIEWED IN PICTURES Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues (Sub Pop)

(ET)
15. Six Great Music Things From The First Half Of 2011 That I Haven’t Already Written About
This album blows my mind every time I listen to it. (SC)
