There’s been a focus on reviews this week. And not much dialogue going on. So the chart reflects that. Not entirely sure why She Keeps Bees has made a reappearance, but it’s nice to know our archives aren’t completely being overlooked.

1. Belle And Sebastion @ The Tivoli, 07.03.11
‘I’m Not Living In The Real World’ sounds unfamiliar, but pleasing enough – wayward, subtly infectious, with an elongated Jackson introduction that feels a fraction overdone. Yes, we know how Eurovision works (key changes, semitones). (Everett True)
2. Song of the day – 300: The Clean (mini-live review)
I doubt if there’s a single person here who undervalues The Clean’s beauty, their vivid guitar storms punctuated by trebly guitar excess and bursts of down-home, deprecating humour. (ET)
3. Women In Music Conference
After a focus on the feminist agenda in the morning, and a bit of networking, the sessions got underway and abandoned the girl-power tone to simply get on with industry shop talk. (Jodi Biddle)
4. Joanna Newsom @ The Tivoli, 04.03.11
It’s such a refreshing change to go to a gig and have the audience absolutely silent during the songs; she’s totally spellbinding so it’s not really a surprise. (Justin Edwards)
5. Song of the day – 301: Anni Rossi
A little bit Micachu, a little bit Lispector, one could say. The album feels very Portland. (ET)
5. Spotlight – 11: She Keeps Bees
It’s sexy, y’see. It’s sexy and soulful and isn’t afraid to show bone. The music broods and braids and never bottoms out. It’s only raw if you’re of the mind to take it that way. (ET)
7. Song of the day – 298: Yeh Deadlies (free download)
his is what the early parts of the 90s sounded like to me … um, the good early parts. (ET)
8. Song of the day – 302: Donna Summer
Even at the height of my punk-fuelled rage against anything disco or popular, I loved this song. How could you not? It’s got such energy, such attitude, such singing … (ET)
9. Best Coast @ Woodland 10.03.11 (see featured image)
Sometimes I wonder what it must be like to be in a popular band and play on stage at a sold out show to a front row of people with their iphones held aloft, recording the moment for later playback rather than living than moment. (JE)
10. Joanna Newsom + Neal Morgan @ The Tivoli, 04.03.11
The reverent fan within me soars with delight while observing how Newsom has matured her earlier works, with a wry ear cocked for how her distinct early vocals have ripened. (Sophie MacKenzie-Smith)
