TNSofN are first and foremost an art band
Music born out of love. There was nothing fashionable, or self-conscious, or uptight about them — they just loved playing music.
So here we are again. Back in Athens, GA. A town rich with an embarrassment of melody and weirdness.
In 1981, Oh-OK were already creating songs of child-like wonder laced with a hint of darkness.
It just makes you want to smash up a mic stand. It just makes you want to dive into the drum kit. It just makes you want to scream and whoop and holler and call up the dead.
Is that a cow bell? No.
This sound is so glorious! It’s like if (early) B-52s and Pylon remained the best-known bands from Athens instead of … goddammit, what was that band’s name again? Coldplay?
Somewhere along the line, apparently, Crystal Pepsi and I developed different ideas of what rock music could/should/would do.
