Songs about Brisbane – 15: Yves Klein Blue

[The final song in our series, and this one comes with a health warning – Ed.]

Yves Klein Blue – Polka
Correct me if I’m wrong, but every person who grew up in Brisbane is disgusted by the place. From every conversation I’ve had with any person, the response is the same. “Why would anybody write a song about Brisbane?” Interesting shit happens here, you just have to hunt it down. In other news, don’t take drugs kids, that’s what the song is about. I’ve always been a sucker for a bouncy song with disgustingly sad lyrics. Fuck off boring hometown? Ease the pain with some meth. Charmed, I’m sure.

Thanks for the health warning Ed. Not sure if it helped.

Not sure what this song has to do with Brisbane at all really. Reading the text, I’m still confused. There are so many other songs that are a) better and b) more relevant to the theme. I also disagree with the whole ‘why would anyone write a song about Brisbane’?

Because clearly, there have been a lot, written by some great bands, but perhaps not in the most positive fashion.

Perhaps this should have been filed under the ‘shit songs written by shit bands from Brisbane’ special.

Ouch. The band kinda sucked and floundered and we tried too hard but shit band? Damn. I shouldn’t read these blogs they just make me sad! The articles are good though.
