Song of the day – 37: LoneLady
Tip of the ET hat to this most excellent website for hooking me up with the debut LoneLady album. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I’m familiar with Julie (LoneLady)’s work from a few years back, but that was all sky-reaching vocals and Free Kittenish. This isn’t.
It’s on Warp in the UK, so I was thinking mutated dance along the lines of… I dunno, Chicks On Speed or someone… not Michael Dracula, not this thin-sounding, stretched, jagged, guitar-based music. Nerve Up is all abrasive Gang Of Four guitars and sudden incisions. Maybe I should have checked my own blog.
Anyway, the music is great – unsettling and smartly paranoid and taut. Here’s the single.
