Barbara Dane and The Chambers Brothers

I intercepted this song on Facebook. A former member of Skinned Teen was sending it to a former member of Nation Of Ulysses.

I intercepted this song on Facebook. In return, it has intercepted my life. I played it in KXB101 (Introduction to Entertainment) two times, and to my wife in the car on the way to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (and then again on the way to Dark Shadows, which was crap). I played it to John Willstead over in the Music And Sound teaching corridor, and we both swooned as we delved deeper into the Barbara Dane/Chambers Brothers intersection, and I played it to myself long after I should have been asleep, both Saturday and Sunday night. I would have played it in KKB003 (Sex Drugs Rock N Roll) for sure: but we had no lessons last week, just a catch-up wherein I talked about the Melbourne sharpies and stumbled over Royal Headache. I want to get up, dancing on the rooftops, and proclaim how NOTHING HAS CHANGED, that MY LOVE IS JUST AS STRONG, but my legs keep giving way.

I intercepted this song on Facebook. You think I was going to ignore such obvious signs? My world is blown apart again. Who the fuck cares it was released in 1963 or whenever? The emotion, the passion is as strong as if it had come out today. (Stronger, I hear you ask. Stronger? No. Just strong, immovably so.) Every lyric, every harmony, every rolled vowel.

And it seems like Ms Dane is going just as strong today, still out there fighting.
