Songs about Brisbane – 9: Allo Darlin’

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

[Song number nine in this series comes from Brisbane blogger Rachel Newnham once again. And this time it’s totally got the ET seal of approval – Ed]

Tallulah – Allo Darlin’
Rather than the typical sentiments, Elizabeth Morris laments how her life has moved since she left our fair town. Lines like “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen all my old friends/But I really love my new friends” capture how we all feel about leaving our town for something different, if not necessarily better. As well as deep feelings, this song just emulates any summer university student road trip; burning arms on car doors is such a Queensland problem. But, like any song about Brisbane, this one is about going away.
