We are Collapse Board. We have no fancy slogans or marketing speak. We love music, and we want to express that love, share that love, communicate that love in whatever way we can – through words, through visuals, through informed discussion and argument, through passion.

I love the “Shit People Say In Olympia” vid but the Portland ones left me cold. Olympia may have a somewhat transient population, but Portland is really in flux these days, population-wise and identity-wise. As the video points out, much of Olympia seems to have moved to Portland, too.
I love how Olympia feels so rural, yet it is the state capitol, and it is so close to Seattle. It is so much its own thing, it has the vibe of an island, but with influence reaching outward.
The one time I played music there (w my old band), there were all of three people in the audience. One was a shaggy street kid in bare feet and mismatched flip flops (during the show he wrote the name of my friend’s band on his belly w/ a sharpie), another was drunk goth guy who wanted to engage me in a discussion about Camille Paglia before creating a one-man mosh pit, and the third was a low-key lady who actually dug our music.
