For a couple of months now, I’ve been scratching my head as to why the new Anni Rossi album, Heavy Meadow, kept disappearing from my iTunes folder. I recalled the time I saw her supporting Electrelane in Brighton, and was drawn to the jerky angularity of her dance patterns. A little bit Micachu, a little bit Lispector, one could say. The album feels very Portland. It’s the mixture between the analogue, the synthetic, the human and the slightly off-kilter. My main lady in Melbourne, Pikelet, may well appreciate this. I know that I appreciate her. All good. Music to play chess to. So why did the album keep vanishing?
The answer is simple. I’m a bozo.
Here’s what I was looking for.
Here is what I was typing in.
I don’t know, man. Is it just me, or is Everett True losing it nowadays?
[...] I’d like to thank Everett True for being a bozo. He was looking for Anni Rossi, to blog about her, but typed in Anna Calvi instead. The latter is much more my style, falling somewhere between [...]
The guitar parts for that Anna Calvi song are a dead rip from this rare and totally awesome Manson Family songs:

I know, it’s one of the best songs and, indeed albums of all time, and even the music-heads I hang around with had’t heard it til I drove it home on repeat every day for a summer.
Now they are hooked, and I’d imagine so are you. It was recorded by Charles Manson’s family during his trial, and didn’t see the light of day until the Nineties or something, apart from 500 copies that were released on vinyl in 73. This (the Manson family stuff) should be song of the day every day til October for the benefit of the legion who haven’t been seduced by its desert charms.
By the way, I don’t think Charlie actually wrote any or many (at least) of these songs. They probably credited him out of pure devotion. Pretty swell though, huh?
